So the postbac program really creates a nurturing environment for students. We have practice interviews. We had peek at prep courses. So they really do make sure that you as an applicant are well-rounded.
One aspect of the postbac program is the lunch talks. So our group of pharmacy postbac students will get together with a pharmacy faculty member or a current student and just kind of talk to them about their experience in pharmacy.
And we also got to shadow at Walgreens. So we saw different aspects it, from experiencing what it's like being at the front desk, to the filling station, and also for their meds to beds program.
With the interprofessional professional environment here, I think UCSF does an amazing job of making sure that all the different professional students collaborate together. We have pharmacy, dental, nurse practitioners all come together. And we're all students. And we work on pieces together to make sure that the patient gets this holistic patient care experience.
For students who have completed the postbac program there's a really high percentage and chance of getting into UCSF's pharmacy program and into a PharmD intern role. So after completing the program I now feel like I stand out in a group of highly competitive students.
